Finance Minister Fernando Haddad met yesterday with the President of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), to discuss alternatives to increasing the IOF (Tax on Financial Transactions). Yesterday, at an event hosted by the Center for Public Policy Debate in São Paulo, Central Bank President Gabriel Galípolo stated that the IOF should not be used for revenue generation or as a monetary policy instrument. Also yesterday, Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes scheduled the start of witness interrogations in the criminal case investigating the attempted coup in 2022. The individuals will be questioned between June 9 and 13.
