Yesterday, the President of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), reaffirmed that the proposal to eliminate the 6x1 work schedule (PEC 221/19) is expected to be voted on the floor by the end of May. Today, the Lower House may vote on Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) 383/17, which guarantees a minimum allocation of 1% of the federal government’s net current revenue to the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS). A transition rule is currently under negotiation to mitigate the measure’s fiscal impact, estimated at R$15 billion. Yesterday, Finance Ministry Executive Secretary Dario Durigan confirmed that he met with President Lula to present an initial framework for a program aimed at addressing household indebtedness. According to him, the proposal under consideration includes safeguards to prevent future over-indebtedness among beneficiaries.
