The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) yesterday confirmed the imposition of a new tariff on 60 countries alleged to have benefited commercially from products linked to forced labor. The Brazilian government criticized the U.S. decision. In an official statement, the Presidential Office described the measure as "arbitrary and unjustified" and announced that it will invoke the mechanisms provided under Brazil's Reciprocity Law. Yesterday, former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro released a video accepting Flávio Bolsonaro's apology. The truce could help reduce the political damage Flávio has suffered among female voters. The Liberal Party (PL) will hold its national convention this Saturday to formally nominate Flávio as its presidential candidate. On Sunday, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) will hold its convention to formally nominate Ronaldo Caiado as its presidential candidate, followed on Monday by the Novo party's convention to nominate Romeu Zema.
