Today is the final day of the election campaign. The main event will be the presidential debate broadcast by TV Globo beginning at 9:20 p.m local time. Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Augusto Cury (Avante), and Romeu Zema (Novo) have confirmed their participation, but President Lula has decided not to attend. Yesterday, the TSE formed a majority to uphold Justice André Mendonça’s decision ordering the removal of a series of posts falsely claiming that Flávio Bolsonaro or members of his family had sought remove Our Lady of Aparecida’s title as Patroness of Brazil. The ruling represents an important victory for Flávio’s campaign. It is also worth noting that today is the deadline for lawmakers to submit amendments to two provisional measures recently issued by President Lula. One concerns Desenrola, a program aimed at reducing household indebtedness, while the other addresses a nationwide ban on betting platforms.
